Historic Valle Verde Ranch
Hidden Gem of Tubac
The Historic Valle Verde Ranch, constructed in 1936 of adobe in the old hacienda style, sits within walking distance of the town of Tubac and the Tubac Presidio Historic State Park. A juxtaposition in time, the Ranch was preserved as the Tubac Barrio developed along its three sides. Nestled on six acres bordering the historic Anza Trail on the East, this beautiful ranch offers three well-appointed individual guest units as well as the original adobe house filled with character and remnants of the past. Loved by artists and birders alike, the private four acre mesquite bosque (forest) entices you to sit a spell on its handcrafted benches and take in the sounds and beauty around you. Travel to its edge and you will be greeted by the historic Anza Trail that runs directly to Tubac or Tumacacori, your choice!
The Ranch is recognized by the Tucson Audubon Society as a “cardinal level” premium backyard birding habitat so you’re bound to witness resident and migrating birds, hawks and other Arizona wildlife during your stay.
The Ranch property offers “Old World” charm around every corner. Whether you’re relaxing on one of the many patios or taking a nap in the hammock, you will be immersed in its peace and privacy. Activities abound. Take a walk on the Anza Trail, explore the many shops and restaurants of Tubac or learn about the history of the Presidio and the cultures that melded to make Tubac what it is.
All guest residences include refrigerator, microwave, and coffee stations. The Casa and Norm’s Studio have cooking areas as well. The Internet is available throughout the Ranch. No TVs in our units but we hope you’ll get outside and enjoy nature or read a book. Because of the age of the Ranch, the importance of the surrounding area, and the extreme dryness of the Southwest, no smoking is allowed on the premises.
We encourage all of our guests to explore our private mesquite bosque. With benches throughout and a tree “loft” for bird viewing, bring your binoculars to watch one of the 100 Lucy’s Warbler nest boxes mounted throughout the property as part of a study by the Tucson Audubon Society.
